Andrew Peek teaches Creative Writing
and Post-colonial Literature at the University
of
Tasmania. His research interests are
post-colonial literature (Australian
and the South Pacific, and African
literature), modernist British literature,
and creative writing.
He says he has also worked
as 'a labourer, security guard and
market researcher' and that att his
first teaching post in the north
of England, he was shown how to inflict
pain without leaving traces (a skill
he declined to use). He spent three
years in Nigeria where he taught at the University of
Ife and acted with the university's
travelling theatre company.
In Australia, Andrew Peek's poems were first published by Michael
Sharkey's Fat Possum Press in Armidale,
NSW. His work - poetry, fiction and reviews
- has subsequently appeared in Australia
and the US and he has broadcast regularly
on national, regional and community radio.
