I first heard Kitty Madeson read at
a memorable and wild night in Battery
Point with Shelton Lea and Eric Beach in
the late 80s, where her stunning poise
and wit made a lasting impression on
me. Her work is prolific and unique:
hers is a mature voice which resonates with
an elegance, beauty and sensitivity that
is as sharp as the finest cut glass.

Kitty Madeson is an ex-pat from The Bronx where she had
a rich and exciting childhood pre-WW2.
Now an Australian citizen, she journeys
to the Northern Hemisphere every few years
to see family and friends.
To her great surprise and delight she wrote her first poem in
a park in Hobart the day after her 56th
birthday. Poetry was followed by short
stories, articles and film scripts 'all
pouring out like lava from a volcano'.
Kitty is currently editing 28 short stories, which will be interspersed
with related poems.
