Robyn Mathison was born in Narrandera, NSW in 1938 and since early
1975, she has lived in Hobart.
She told The Write Stuff that she has 'shared her
tumbledown
house with her children and sundry
cats,
dogs, sheep and hens' and that she 'writes short stories,
poems and occasional reviews'.
The Write Stuff feels Robyn needs more by way of a biography
than those brief words. A person of deep
modesty, Robyn is in fact a very active
writer and is one of the stalwarts of Hobart's writing
world. A bridge-builder and mender of metaphorical
fences, Robyn has worked tirelessly and
professionally (read: selflessly) on the
committees of writers' organisations such
as the former Tasmanian Writers Union, and the Fellowship of Australian
Writers.
Apart from helping found BumbeBee
Books along with Lyn Reeves,
she has acted as a competition coordinator
and judge, and as a representative for Tasmanian
poetry in the pages of interstate newsletters
for the Melbourne Poets Union and the Poets
Union.
